Spot perfect espresso
We believe that making a great cup of coffee is an art. At Caffe Ritazza, only fully-trained baristas are trusted with this honour, and they use the traditional Italian method to make one of the best tasting espresso-based coffees on the market. Here's how they do it:
Grinding
Caffe Ritazza never uses pre-ground coffee. Every cup is made from our specially selected beans which are freshly ground by our highly skilled baristas. To ensure the best possible quality, we always use separate grinders which can be set manually to get just the right consistency of grind to make the perfect espresso.
Freshness
Our baristas know that exposing coffee to air and moisture impairs its flavour. So that's why they only grind small quantities of coffee at any one time, as and when they need it.
Dose
This is an exact science. Our grinders are set to dispense precisely the right amount of coffee to make the perfect espresso. That's 7g for a single espresso and 14g for a double shot - made correctly you shouldn't need any more to obtain the required strength.
Pour Time
25 seconds is all it takes to make the perfect cup of coffee. Our baristas know that with any more or less then the coffee could be too weak or even burnt. So it is crucial that the grind is just the right consistency to achieve the perfect extraction time. And just to make sure, our grinders are checked by the Senior Baristas at regular intervals throughout the day.
Crema
This defines the perfect espresso. All espressos should feature a thick golden crema or layer, that rests on top of the espresso for more than a minute if left untouched. The crema helps seal in the espresso's aroma and heat.
