Tasting guide

Appreciating real coffee can be as complex and rewarding as tasting and discerning the different qualities of fine wines, and a little understanding of how the balance of good coffee flavours is achieved is a good starting point.

So what makes the 'taste' of good coffee?

The Aroma, or smell of the coffee will set the context for the taste, it's a key part of appreciating good coffee.

The ‘Acidity’ of coffee is not a negative thing, it's how you rate the bite of a good coffee from very mild to having some real 'zing'.

Body is all about the weight of the coffee, on a scale does it feel refreshingly light or comfortably heavy?

Flavour is where all the elements of aroma, acidity and body come together to form the complete coffee taste.
